Live Music

Rhuddfest 2018 kicks off showcasing two very talented local youth bands. Show your support by arriving early.

From midday we’ll be showing off some seriously impressive bands and musicians from across the country. You’ll see the super fun Folk’n’Roll band, The Cheesecutters, playing up beat folk and country music. Wilbur Milton playing a huge range of cover songs from the likes of the Foo Fighters, Wings, The Killers, The Jam, Paul Weller, Kings Of Leon, The Cult, Crowded House, Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, and so many more!

The Goat Roper Rodeo Band will be showing just what you can achieve with a couple of acoustic guitars, a stand-up bass and the voice of a pinch-faced Kentucky miner’s son.  The Goat Ropers will be followed by the Straight Jacket Legends, with a fusion of catchy power punk songs, orchestral power riffs and dangerously slick harmonies it’s no wonder why this band are quoted by Alex Barker Kerrang!: “So Awesome, Pop Punk Classic, Big Fan of This Band” and Aaron Philips Amazing Radio: “Catch Pop Punk That Oozes Good Harmonies.

Blue Nation will be smashing out some Euphoric Riff based rock to create a sound that doesn’t fit neatly into a genre and is all the more memorable for it. Their songs are delivered by three accomplished musicians, fronted with stunning vocals. All backed up with impressive gig experience, stage presence and great songs.

As we near our Headline act for Rhuddfest 2018, our host, and founder of the event, Peter Kenway will be taking the stage to play a few songs from his up and coming album, “The Space Between Thoughts”. With his charismatic stage presence and passion for good times, Peter will be sure to keep you entertained.

We’ve gone all out this year to provide our ever growing Rhuddfest Family with an incredible Headline act. We can’t give too much away at the minute, but this guys first album is a certified double platinum selling album in the United Kingdom. The album topped the UK Album Charts. It was promoted by three singles which we’ll be revealing to you very soon. He is presently touring his new album around the world, so much to our excitement he has excepted out invitation to get involved in our family music festival. We’re super excited and can’t wait to make the official announcement of who we have for you. So keep your eyes peeled and watch this space!

From 9pm onward we will be moving Rhuddfest to the indoor stage to kick off our Bar Tent Party. We’ve got a massive big top tent which will be loaded with three bars, a stage, and plenty of good vibes from more amazing musicians. Opening with the super vibrant Hedge Gods who are an energetic warp-driven acoustic analogue dance band from Wales. They’re a buzzing trio who have been bouncing their unique take on fusion music through the party scene like electrified ferrets on a roller coaster. This cult band’s mystical rhythm is tight and so are their trousers.

The fun will continue throughout the night with some serious looping skills from Chesters very own SamWise. Sam has played at previous Rhuddfest events and due to the amount of requests to get him back it would be rude not to.

The night will be brought to end with the world traveling, high energy group, Busk til Dawn. They’re such a cool group, bringing an eclectic range of foot stomping covers to bring the day to a perfect end and leave you smiling and looking forward to many more Rhuddfests to come!

Rhyl Rugby Club at Rhuddfest

Ruby at Rhuddfest

This year we are thrilled to announce that Rhyl Rugby Club, supported by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) will be providing 2 hours of free coaching at Rhuddfest where children aged 6 and over can be taught by qualified coaches in an inflatable cage.

Rhyl Rugby Club have a brilliant minis, juniors, youth and seniors rugby structure which provides children from all backgrounds the opportunity to play our national game.  Rhyl Rugby Club & the WRU providing the cage and coaches for Rhuddfest is a fantastic example of their tireless work to bring Rugby to the community.  The WRU and Rhyl Rugby Club are keen for the sport to be available to more people, more often to increase enjoyment, participation and success across the whole game. Rugby, unlike many other sports, has a real focus on participation, inclusion and community; after each game the players from both teams sit down together for meals.  The friendships made on the Rugby pitch last a lifetime.

Rugby focuses on

  •     Enjoyment
  •     Fun
  •     Inclusion
  •     Respect
  •     Fair Play
  •     Participation
  •     Accessibility

Bring your children along between 1pm and 3pm so they can enjoy an introduction into this wonderful game.  The pitch will be hard to miss and the coaches from Rhyl Rugby Club & the WRU community Team will be happy to talk to you and coach your children through some fun basics.

Rhuddfest’s organisers have always enjoyed watching Rugby; whilst not players ourselves we have many local family members and friends who have a long standing relationship with Rhyl Rugby Club, we’d encourage you to become a part of this club which does a fantastic amount for local children, their parents, the community and the game we love.
